Traditional tank residential water heaters come in several types, induced draft, atmospheric and electric.
Inducted draft
Induced draft water heaters are installed using one or two PVC pipes for venting and combustion air. These water heaters are more efficient than standard tank water heaters and can deliver more hot water than standard tank water heaters of comparable size.
Atmospheric
An atmospheric standard tank water heater is the most widely used type of hot water heater and are also the most economical. These water heaters typically vented up your chimney using the gravity and the natural draft created by your chimney.
Electric
Electric hot water heaters come in a variety of sizes and can be installed as a point of use application, such as under a sink, or for the whole house. Whole-house electric water heaters typically require a 240v connection and range in size up to 55 gallons.
